Come with us to Mexico where the old meets the new. Tequisquiapan has a federal designation of “Pueblo Magico” (Magic Town) awarded to towns that have a significant historical, geographic, or social aspect.
Tequis, as it is known to locals, is located in the State of Querétaro, very close to the Capitol city of Santiago de Querétaro. This enchanting destination is famous for being a small town located in an area with hot springs, opal mines, wineries, and crafts. Craft items include ceramic, leather, and opal, as well as woven fabrics and traditional baskets made of wicker and palm.
The picturesque Historical Center with its colonial architecture will transport you back in time. The plaza is lined on 3 sides with colonial arches that today holdmany shops and restaurants. Facing these arches stands the Templo de Santa María de la Asunción (Church of St. Mary of the Assumption). This imposing Church and its plaza become the central point for holidays, festivals and concerts. Radiating out from the plaza are streets closed to traffic and they beckon for the visitor to explore on foot the centuries old houses that line them. With year-round perfect weather, the scene is spectacular with bougainvillea climbing up the walls the scene is spectacular.
